Ingredients That Help Dry, Curly Hair

This is a list of common ingredients I have found in products that are used to help hydrate. The list is divided into Natural and Chemical, or man made. These ingredients are used to help hair in many ways. But do they really work? You decide.

Remember, if you are a sensitive, you can be allergic to plants being used on your skin. So always do test patches when possible. And during spring, look for samples travel sizes.


Allantion – botanical extract of the comfrey plant and is used for its healing, soothing, and anti-irritating properties. Helps to heal scalp irritations and stimulate growth of healthy tissue.

Aloe Leaf Juice – Vitamin rich moisturizer (B1, B2, B6, C, Choline, + 18 amino acids)

Avocado Oil – A natural moisturizer is an excellent conditioning oil and contains large amounts of vitamins A, D, & E.

Calendula Extract – Increases hair shaft elasticity and flexibility to prevent breakage. Penetrates the core of the hair shaft to help restore Keratin levels.

Chamomile – Strengthens hair, adds sheen.

Coconut Milk – Natural curl moisturizer that softens, moisturizes and defrizzes hair.

Coconut Oil – Rehydrates

Gardenia Essential Oil

Grapeseed Oil – This natural oil absorbs into the hair shaft and scalp smoothly adding extra moisture and conditioning.

Green Tea Extract – Soothes and moisturizes dry hair and scalp.

Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein

Keratin Amino Acids

Mango Butter – Ultra rich emollients that provide intense conditioning from cortex to cuticle.

Meadowfoam Seed Oil – valued for the unique high quality triglyceride oil extracted from the seed compared to other vegetable oils.

Shea Butter – Ultra rich emollients that provide intense conditioning from cortex to cuticle.

Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate – a mild, high-foaming surfactant derived from coconut oil, leaves the scalp and hair with a soft after feel.

Sunflower Oil – a light oil which is high in linoleic acid, Vitamins A, B complex, D, and E, as well as calcium, zinc, potassium, iron, and phosphorus.

Panthenol – Vitamin B complex that adds strength and body to hair by filling in cracks on the hair shaft.

Plumeria Alba Flower Extract – Strengthens hair.

Pomegranate Seed Oil – Pure and cold pressed, this exotic oil provides natural sun protection and balances the PH of skin. Imparts brilliant sheen and moisture for the hair. It is also a natural remedy for dandruff, psorasis, eczema, and sunburn. It is even clinically proven to kill cancer cells.

Soy Protein – Reinforces and strengthens hair. Stimulates hair growth.
